ALDA VILLILJÓS

I am driven by constant curiosity, a thirst for knowledge and understanding of the world. In my art, I explore my own way of observing, translating what I see through the subconscious and back into the real world. Inspired by spirituality, shamanism, psychoanalysis and symbolism of dreams and fantasies, my images do not represent the physical world, but the way I experience and interpret it in my mind. 

While my curiosity and drive to learn and experience new things may make my art seem diverse, there is always an exploration of the self and its relationship to the Other going on, whether it's through daily self portraits, the confusion of dreams with memories or symbolic images inspired by self-analysis. 


I am currently based in Reykjavík, Iceland, but I have lived in both Stockholm, Sweden and London, UK.
